Viewing the Currently Running Processes

The `top' process viewer provides an interactive display of the current process table and system CPU utilisation and memory statistics. For full details see the manual page (`man top' from a UNIX shell). The following commands are useful to know:

h Show help
n Change the number of processes to display
k Kill a process
r Change the priority of a process
u Restrict display to processes owned by a specified user
i Display/Do not display idle processes
q Quit
