Customising SSH Logins

Usually, only the trusted friend user can have a login account on the firewall, and only the trusted friend can log in with SSH. It is possible to add other user accounts, and grant SSH access to these other users. The full details are beyond the scope of this manual; the online manual pages should be used if additional help is needed. The basic process is as follows:

• The additional user accounts must be created on the firewall; the adduser command can be used for this.
• To prevent the administration program from deleting these accounts, and to grant access to these accounts for logging in, the /usr/local/custom/keepusers file must be created or edited, and the list of additional users added, one per line.
• The public keys for the users must be installed on the firewall, as for the trusted friend.
