Keeping Informed

There are a number of Internet mailing lists for discussion of Internet security-related topics. It is a good idea to subscribe to these lists to keep informed of security problems that may affect your network (although in most cases your firewall will offer sufficient protection that your network will not be vulnerable to these security problems).

The `cequrux-announce@cequrux.com' list is a low-volume mailing list that is used for announcements from CEQURUX Technologies, such as the availability of bug fixes or new software releases. It is strongly recommended that you subscribe to the cequrux-announce list.

The `cequrux-talk@cequrux.com' mailing list is an open mailing list for general discussion of CEQURUX products and security-related news items.

Requests to subscribe to, or unsubscribe from, a mailing list should usually be sent to the list's `-request' address (which would be `listname-request@domain' for the `listname@domain' mailing list), or to a special email address associated with the software that manages the mailing list (e.g. majordomo@domain or listserv@domain for mailing lists that use the majordomo or listserv software). The most common method of subscribing to a mailing list is to send email to the relevant `-request' address, with a single line of text as the body of your message; the line of text should read `subscribe listname'.

Figure 8.1 lists the names and subscription addresses of some of the useful mailing lists.
