Running a WAIS Server

Another public service that you can enable is WAIS (Wide-Area Information Service) which allows you to serve documents to remote hosts and do keyword searches within documents. The firewall includes installed versions of WAIS client, server and support software. WAIS documents should be kept in the /usr/local/wais directory.

Run Public WAIS Server
If set to YES, then a publicly accessible WAIS service will be run on the firewall on port 210. This can be simply a relay to some other host on the internal network or in the DMZ, or it can be be a WAIS server on the firewall itself (in which case the daemon will run chrooted to the /usr/local/wais directory).

Host
If the public WAIS service is simply a relay, then the IP address of the real server should be entered here. If a WAIS server is to be run on the firewall itself then this field should be left blank.
